Researching Titles and Credits

Researching titles and credits

The genre of film we are doing is horror and action. The titles and credits are paramount in setting the scene and creating an unnerving atmosphere. As of yet our group is undecided on how we are going to use the titles but due to our genre, it would not compliment our sequence if we were to include intrusive bright titles. I believe that small black credits in the bottom corner during the first few seconds of the film would not affect the atmosphere but would serve the purpose.
The sound during the titles should be minimal. During the titles, we should have quiet music that is able to build up tension of the sequence.

I think that the order of titles and credits are important to creating the atmosphere. As our production logo is bright and has unrelated music, it will disturb the atmosphere. So this should be placed at the start of the titles sequences. Next the title of our film should appear. In the background could be background music that is able to create a dramatic or scary atmosphere. Lastly, I think that credits for the film should appear. As the sequence continues, I think that the names of the actors should appear. Not necessarily next to the people that they represent but in a way that  will not affect the continuity. Music should continue throughout the beginning few seconds of the film.
The title sequences of the genre we are doing normally consists of mood-setting credits. The films I looked at were ‘Shaun of the Dead’, ‘Avenger’ and ’21 Jump Street’. This is a mix between action and horror, as suitable for our genre.
