Ideas for Initial Film Plot

The story should begin with the main characters being established. This way the audience can get attached and recognise them. It shouldn’t be known straight away that this will be a zombie film. The setting will be in someone’s back garden and the main characters will be playing football with another team. It switches to them in a circle. To give out their names, the ‘leader’ will first speak telling them what they should do later on in the game. The main characters will be in one team while they play a different team. During half time, the captain of the team will position the players. During this time, it is a chance to show the character’s personalities and what their role will possibly be.

After they lose to the other team, they leave and the remaining people left are the main characters. The ‘betrayer’ and the ‘muscle’ come back to taunt them and in doing so kicks the ball into the woods. They force the ‘scaredy cat’ to go and retrieve the ball.

They are then introduced to the matter of zombies. During this part of the story they learn new information regarding what is happening and how it happened. They also learn information telling them that there is a safe zone for people who have not been infected with the disease. It is a camp which is heavily guarded and is blocked off from the rest of the world. They find a small a hiding spot where they can collect their thoughts and try to figure out a plan.

The group decide on how to get the safe zone with the limited resources they have. They find out that the safe zone is actually close to where they are. They will also stock up on food supplies and will find weapons to arm themselves. Slowly the characters roles are being established. We have the ‘smart’ member of the group telling them what route they should take and what is the safest. There will be problems with certain characters (mainly the ‘betrayer’ and the ‘leader’). They will argue about who should be in charge. Although they argue, they will still travel together.

After they stocked up they decide to head out. Along the way they encounter zombies and characters will be lost. When they are trapped into a dead end, the betrayer finds a way out but does not help the others and leaves them to die. He also leaves his one and only follower behind. But a ‘hero’ will save them and lead them out to safety. The ‘hero’ will teach them on how to survive on their own. They will be taught on how to fight and use weapons. During the groups rescue the ‘betrayer’ will die on his own as he is cornered. The hero has to leave in order to search for his friends that are close by.

With their new skills they will have one last battle against a wave of zombies that are standing in the way of the safe zone. Some characters will be lost but just at the end, where all hope seems lost and everyone is prepared to die. The hero comes back again with his gang of friends and saves them all.

They find the safe zone and everyone is happy.
