The first two minutes
An establishing shot showing teenagers playing football in a garden. We will use an aerial shot to show this. Dark quiet sound will be played during this. This is needed to set the atmosphere quickly. The story in the film is that two teams are playing football. One team has all the main characters and the rest are extras. There will be five players on each team. We hear a loud shout “halftime” during the aerial shot. The main characters team will gather in a circle where the camera will be positioned in the centre. During this break we will see the characters and their personalities. We will clearly establish who will be leading the group later on, this character will be the first one to talk and will give out tactics to each player. He will mention their names and as he does so we get a close up of his face and then back to the speaker. This will happen for all of them. We will also see some of the characters being established too; characters such as the ‘smart’ one. He will also help with the tactics. These two characters will show a strong partnership together. At the end of the break we see them stand up and fix themselves in a row, all showing a passionate expression. It will pause there and then it will show the title of the film. After the title we see the ‘leader’ sitting down with sweat all over his face. This will be shown with a close up of his left side only and the only thing we will hear is him breathing heavily. This will be a time skip, showing the end of the game. The other team begin to leave but the ‘betrayer’ comes back with his ‘follower’ and begins to taunt them about losing the game. We see him do this to the ‘leader’ of the team and it will be shot from his point of view. Because he is sitting down it makes them look almighty as they walk closer. As he taunts, the ‘smart’ one comes in to help the ‘leader’ showing their bond. Their conversation is interrupted as a ball rolls over and hits the ‘betrayer’s foot. The person who kicked it to him accidently asks for it back but the ‘betrayer’ kicks it too far and goes into a forest-like place. They others tell him to get it but instead threaten a weak looking character to get it. This person will be the ‘scaredy cat’ character and will go as he says.
It switches to the next scene where we only see ‘scaredy cat’ trying to look for the ball as he wonders through the woods. Music will build up suspense here as he sees branches moving. We will see this from a POV shot of him looking left and right and in between a close up of his face. We will have a 360 degree pan shot of him looking left, right, backwards and forwards until we see a zombie.
It then switches scenes to the main characters in the garden talking until they realise what’s taking ‘scaredy cat’ so long and then decide to look for him.
Its good that you used some camera angles in your description but I think if you drew out your storyboard it would be easier to understand what you are explaining. - Conor Fay
