Research on production companys logos
Lionsgate
- 18 seconds long.
- Mechanical sound is played in the background as the production company’s logo is being introduced. It ends when the gates open allowing us to see the Lionsgate logo.
- The Lionsgate lettering is in bronze and in capital letters. In the back, there are clouds and they are coloured in orange and red.
20th Century Fox
- 25 seconds long.
- It begins with loud drums and then leads into orchestral music.
- The letters and numbers are in the colour Gold. The sky in the background is in the colours blue and purple.
Pixar
- Around 14 seconds long, short compared to the rest.
- Uses animations fitting for the target audience they usually attract. The younger generation (children and families).
- Light blue scheme.
I have found out many similarities between the logos that I have researched. One being, that they are around 20 seconds long. Some logos included orchestral music to try and build up the suspense, while some tried to fit in music that fitted the logo and its animation. The logos I have researched are all attractive and eye-catching. Overall I will use the knowledge I have gained from this research in order to produce a good quality production company's logo for my group.
I have also noticed something during my research on company's logo and that is that there is an alternation to the company's logo in some films. I believe this is done so it can help create an atmosphere but it also depends on the genre of the film being screened.
In my previous research I had looked at the first two minutes of three movies, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Hot Fuzz and Twilight. During this I had mentioned that in Harry Potter they immediately tried to create an eerie atmosphere by using non-diegetic music in the background. They used sinister music to try and fit with what was happening in the previous story of Harry Potter. In the Harry Potter movie I had researched, the company that was part of the film, Warner Bros. Pictures had decided to keep the basic shape and outline of the logo but decided to completely change the colour scheme and made a new animation just for that movie.
This is the normal Warner Bros. logo that is usually shown at the beginning of films produced by Warner Bros.
This is the edited Warner Bros. logo used in the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
